Welcome to the Health Literacy Special Collection!
The goal of this collection is to provide a starting point for finding health literacy resources that will help people from many sectors to improve health literacy, improve health outcomes, and reduce disparities in health.
We hope that these resources will help those in adult education, health care, and other fields to address health literacy in their settings, and also to help them form collaborations with each other. The resources include curricula, training opportunities, easy-to-read health information, research, background information, and links to groups who are doing promising work.
Materials/sites are chosen with the following audiences in mind:
:: Adult basic education practitioners interested in introducing health topics in their classes, or starting a health literacy initiative
:: Health care providers, educators or administrators serving diverse populations with limited literacy skills
:: Adult literacy students and health care consumers (patients) looking for plain language health information
:: Adult education and health care leaders interested in forming collaborations to promote health literacy in their communities
